The awarding of certificates of achievement and associate degrees (AA/AS) recognizes a student's satisfactory completion of an organized program of study (major). Students may select from any of the three General Education patterns as part of the requirements to earn the associate degree: Monterey Peninsula College General Education, CSU GE-Breadth, or IGETC. Completion of a GE pattern is not required for a certificate of achievement.
Note: Chemistry AS-UCT and Physics AS-UCT are UC transfer degrees under the UC Transfer Pathway (UCTP) program. They require the IGETC pattern, allowing for completion after transfer of two courses each in Arts/Humanities and Social/Behavioral Science areas. The degrees are accepted at all nine UCs; however, admission and major requirements vary by campus. Consult a counselor for guidance.
