Commencement Ceremony
Congratulations 2024 MPC Graduates!!
FRIDAY, MAY 17, 2023 at 6PM in the MPC football stadium in-person
Graduates of the Summer and Fall semesters of the previous years (2023), as well as prospective graduates of Spring of the current year (2024), may participate in the ceremony and we look forward to celebrating with you!

Ceremony Location and Timeline
2023-2024 academic year: Friday, May 17, 2024.
- 4:30-5:00pm Graduate Check-in at the 1st level, MPC Gym.
- 5:00-5:30pm Mandatory Rehearsal at MPC Amphitheater
- 5:30-6:00pm Final preparations and student formation at 2nd level, MPC Gym
- 6:00-7:30pm Ceremony at Pappas-Phillips Community stadium (estimated end time)
Check-in and rehearsal are required for students to participate in the graduation ceremony. Regalia is optional for the rehearsal, but there may be limited time for graduates to prepare between the end of rehearsal and the beginning of the ceremony.
Attire/Regalia
Students: Graduation caps & gowns are required to participate in the ceremony. Students are encouraged to decorate their caps to identify their degree program or transfer destination!
- Caps and Gowns
Regalia can be ordered in person at the MPC Bookstore prior to Graduation. A limited number of caps and gowns may be available the day of Graduation and can be purchased before the ceremony.
Students should wear clothing that is personally comfortable to them under their gown, business casual attire is recommended. Shoes with sharp and/or pointy heels are not permitted, as they may puncture the turf. If wearing heels, a block-style is recommended.
Graduates are expected to walk from the amphitheater to the stadium across rough terrain. Comfortable shoes are recommended. Accommodations will be made for any student with a physical disability, including those students requiring wheelchair access. The weather on the Monterey Peninsula fluctuates frequently. Jackets, blankets and an umbrella are recommended.
Information for Your Guests
Seating is available on both sides of the football stadium. All seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. We are unable to reserve seats for people. There is no limit on the number of guests a student may invite. No tickets are necessary. Wheelchair access is readily available, from Lot C. Wheelchair accessible seating is available above the press box bleachers on a first come, first serve basis. MPC staff are unable to assist in the transport of any guest.
Graduation Photography
Professional photography will be taken at the ceremony and photos will be available for you and your family members at no charge. Photos will be posted at: www.mpc.edu/2023gradphotos.
Live Stream Graduation
MPC's 2023 Commencement ceremony will live streamed for your family members to enjoy even if they cannot attend the ceremony. The video will be embedded on this page the day of graduation.

Advisories
- Chewing gum is not allowed in the stadium. No exceptions.
- Confetti, birdseed, and loose flower petals are not permitted on campus at any time during the ceremony.
- Water is the only drink allowed and will be provided to the graduates.
- Use or operation of drones is not allowed on campus.
- Food is not allowed at the ceremony. No food will be provided to the graduates. Please plan accordingly.
- Thin/pointy high heels are not permitted on the football field. Please see attire above.
- Graduate seating is done by student preference, not alphabetical. Students are able to choose who they walk with when lining up in the processional line. Full details are provided during the ceremony rehearsal.
