Official and Unofficial Transcript Information
An official transcript is a certified copy of an academic record created by a school or college. It is printed on unique, security-marked paper and sealed in the school’s envelope. In electronic form, the transcript is protected by data encryption. An official transcript is deemed to be accurate and unaltered by the student. An unofficial transcript does not grant the same assurance, since it does not come directly from the school and therefore has a chance of being altered. It is best to check with the recipient to see what type of transcript will be accepted. Please follow the guidelines below, depending on your years of attendance for instructions on how to access your transcripts.
Need to send transcripts from other schools to MPC? Contact your school for ordering information. MPC can receive hard copy transcripts through the mail, or in person at Admissions & Records. Electronic transcripts must be received through official transcript exchange platforms (such as National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment). If an email address is required by your school to send through an exchange platform, please use transcripts@mpc.edu or admissions@mpc.edu.
Official Transcript Fees
When ordering transcripts directly from the Admissions & Records Office, the cost per transcript depends on how quickly you would like your transcript to be sent out. There are two options for processing transcript requests: rush and routine. Rush requests (as of spring 2022 offered in person only) will be processed at the time of order; the cost is $15 per transcript. Routine requests will be processed within ten business days; the cost is $5 per transcript. Payment is made by cash, check, or money order. Transcripts are sent out as standard mail. Every student is entitled to two free transcripts in their lifetime. These free transcripts can only be redeemed by filling out the Transcript Request Form and turning it in to the Admissions & Records Office. Rush processing is not available for free transcripts.
