March is Nutrition month. You are what you eat. Eating a nutritious, well balanced diet and maintaining a healthy weight are two of the best ways to preserve health and wellness as you age. There are no shortcuts; the key to ongoing weight management is making lifestyle changes that incorporate a healthy eating plan and regular physical exercise.

 

March 7 & 21 – Weigh Loss Surgery Seminar. This is a free seminar led by Dr.Vierra or Dr. Chang who will discuss strategies on weight loss, biological reasons for obesity, and surgical options, outcomes, and complications. Monterey and Salinas. (Additional dates and locations are available).

 

March 12 – Running Strong    Free lecture at Community Hospital from 5:50pm – 6:45pm. CHOMP and the Big Sur Marathon have teamed up together to help you perform your best and stay healthy. Learn everything you want to know to about training for a marathon or a 5K.

March 20 – “Fad vs. Fact: The Truth behind Diets” Not all diets are equal. Learn the truth about what works and what does not from a registered dietician. Nutrition Services, Ryan Ranch, Monterey

 

March 25 – Walk and Win. First meeting for 10 weeks, join anytime. Strengthen your heart and body. Learn about flexibility and stretching. Participants will walk on a track at Monterey Peninsula College.

Our next new wellness challenge called “Healthy Habits for a Healthier You” that is going to be starting up on March 11. Unlike a step challenge, this is a healthy habits challenge where you will earn credits for making good choices. Upon completion, you will be entered into a drawing to earn various prizes. We hope you can join in on the fun.
