Orientation

A student must attend an orientation, or submit proof of exemption. A student may be exempt from orientation if they meet one of the following exemption criteria:

  • Earned an Associate degree or higher
  • Are a non-matriculating K-12 student
  • Are concurrently enrolled at another college or university and receiving matriculation services at that institution
  • Are taking courses for personal interest/career advancement/certificate or license maintenance.

If you would like to be exempt from Orientation, and meet one or more of the criteria, you must submit an orientation exemption form.

 

Assessment and Placement

A student must complete assessment and placement or submit proof of exemption. A student may be exempt from assessment if they meet one of the following exemption criteria:

  • Are taking courses for personal interest that do not require an English or Math prerequisite,
  • Are taking courses for advancement in current job/career (update job skills) that do not require an English or Math course as a prerequisite,
  • Are taking courses to maintain a certificate or license that do not require an English or Math course as a prerequisite, or
  • Have already completed transfer level English and math courses at another college/university.
If you would like exemption from assessment and placement, and meet one or more of the above criteria, you must submit a Prerequisite Verification form to the Counseling Department
