Formerly known as "College Readiness", SSS is the first of the three TRIO programs to arrive on the MPC campus, in September 1980. TRIO SSS is a federal grant-funded program that offers a variety of services to TRIO eligible college students to include: academic and transfer advising; academic support and tutoring; major/career exploration; counseling services; assistance with financial aid, college, and scholarship applications; and four-year college/university tours. The design and goal of the SSS program is to increase student retention, graduation, and transfer rates of its participants.

Who we serve:

Services are offered to MPC eligible students who are first-time freshmen, currently attending, and/or re-entry level college students.

Eligibility requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (through the Performance Partnership Pilot this is currently waived until September 2026)
  • First-Generation (neither parent/guardian earned a Bachelor's degree)
  • Income Qualified (determined by evaluating federal taxable income or Pell eligible, based on FAFSA information)
  • Documented Disability (provide documentation or determined by MPC Access Resource Center)
  • Registered and enrolled at MPC with a minimum of 12 units (Fall & Spring semesters only)
  • Desire to earn an Associate's degree and transfer to a four-year college/university
