Home MenuAdmitted Student Checklist
Congratulations on your admission to Monterey Peninsula College!
This section is designed to help international students who have been accepted to MPC and received their I-20 prepare for their arrival, course registration process and more. Now that you've been admitted to the International Student Program at MPC you need to complete the following steps in order to successfully on-board:
Pay SEVIS Fee
To begin the process of applying for an F-1 visa, please visit www.fmjfee.com to submit your I-901 SEVIS fee. You will need your SEVIS number and our SEVIS School Code (found on your I-20) to complete the form. Once paid, you can schedule your visa interview at your local US embassy or consulate up to 120 days before the start of your program. You may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before the start of your program. This date is listed as the "Earliest Admission Date" on your I-20.
Visit Study in the States to review the steps of the F-1 visa application process.
Submit an online U.S. MPC application
This is not the same as the ISP application. Now that you have been admitted to the International Student Program at MPC, international students must submit a U.S. application to the college. Once students submit the free, online application they will receive a welcome email that provides a unique 9-digit student ID number. You will need your student ID number throughout the remainder of the admissions process and during your studies at MPC.
Complete an English as a Second Language guided self-assessment
International students who submitted a TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo score must complete the ESL self-assessment. Guided placement recommendations are available immediately upon completing the online questionnaires. Save your recommendations and provide the results to the ISP Counselor during your counseling appointment. Students will visit the Assessment website and select English as a Second Language. They will log in with their CCC-ID and MPC ID number (Placement ID).
Meet with the International Student Program Counselor
International students need to schedule a counseling appointment and meet with the ISP Counselor in order to create an Education Plan. Counseling appointments are available after the orientation, however, students are encouraged to make an appointment earlier if they are in the area. Or, appointments are available via phone. Using their MPC ID number, students can log into the online ISP counseling portal to schedule their appointment with the ISP Counselor.
Attend the mandatory orientation
New international students must attend a mandatory orientation prior to beginning classes. Please plan to arrive in Monterey, CA prior to the orientation date. Students can RSVP to the orientation using the ISP Admissions Acceptance form.
Submit I-94
International students will need to submit an I-94 once they arrive to MPC. Visit https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94 to complete your I-94. Print the confirmation page and submit it to ISP staff.
