Academic Support

Math Learning Center
We offer free drop-in tutoring in mathematics to all MPC students taking a math (below 20A), science (no Physics 3) or CTE course involving mathematics.  The MLC is staffed by math instructors, instructional specialists, and student tutors.

Reading and Writing Center (formerly ESSC and Reading Center)
Students who need help with assignments from English classes or classes that require English skills are encouraged to come to the English & Study Skills Center for assistance.

STEM CEL (Cohort Enhanced Learning)
STEM CEL is a designated study space provided by MPC for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math students offering many resources to help students succeed. STEM CEL Tutors are trained to assist with questions, direct studies, and help STEM students find access to support and resources to improve self-study, equipping them for success beyond MPC.  No need to enroll or sign up, STEM CEL is free to drop in for studying in a peer supported environment!

TASC (Tutoring & Academic Success Center)
TASC is a multidisciplinary learning center designed to enrich the academic experience of MPC’s diverse student population through peer tutoring. TASC promotes a culture of completion for all students and foster a culture that supports collaboration, inclusion, professional growth, and leadership development.

TRIO Learning Center
The TRIO Learning Center (TLC) is available to students affiliated with the Student Support Services (SSS) and Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) programs. The TLC is designed to provide tutorial services, assist students to develop study techniques, and share academic strategies for college success and beyond.

EL CENTRO
The Center for Excellence in Transfer, College "Readiness", and Opportunities' (EL CENTRO) focus is to support students transfer to four-year colleges and universities. EL CENTRO provides a space for students to thrive while being culturally responsive to meet their need, and feel a sense of belonging.

Access Resource Center (ARC)
The Access Resource Center (ARC) offers academic counseling, specialized instruction and classroom accommodations to students with a verified disability. Based on a student’s academically related functional limitations, supports are provided to promote access to campus programs and activities.


 

Personal Support

Student Health Services
Fosters health and well-being by providing high quality, integrative health care and education delivered in a culturally competent and compassionate manner to support the academic goals and retention of our diverse student population. MPC works in collaboration with Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula which provides an on-site Registered Nurse. In addition our staff includes a Health Specialist, Licensed Therapists, Psych Associates, Social Work students from Cal State Monterey Bay and a Medical Director- all providing a safe and confidential environment for our students.

Basic Needs Center
If you need food, hygiene products, resources on housing or any other basic need please contact the Basic Needs Coordinator Melissa Arellano email: marellano@mpc.edu to schedule a time to do an intake! After you contact them, the Basic Needs Coordinator will work with you to fulfill any need you might have as best as they can. 

Emergency Grants
Emergency Grants may be available for students in need.  Please contact your EOPS counselor for more information on how to apply.

Financial Aid
Student Financial Services at Monterey Peninsula College is committed to assisting students and their families to bridge the gap between their personal resources and the cost of attending college. MPC's Student Financial Services provides workshops and 1-1 support to educate students, families and the community on understanding the steps involved in receiving financial assistance.
