General Education Requirements
General Education is required of all students pursuing an associate degree at MPC as well as for all majors at University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU) campuses. Three general education patterns are available, and a student’s major and/or transfer goal influences which of the patterns to follow. Students should meet with a counselor to discuss how general education applies to their major and educational goals. General education is not required for students pursuing a certificate of achievement, certificate of training, or certificate of completion.
For students planning to transfer into a high-unit major such as biological science or engineering, completion of general education may not be required. Students may schedule a counseling appointment for further discussion and guidance.
