While all students receive placement recommendations upon completion of the Application for Admission, you are also able to receive and adjust placement recommendations based on answering a set of questions regarding your comfort level with concepts and skills necessary for success in English as a Second Language and transfer level English and/or math coursework.  Guided placement recommendations are available immediately upon completing the online questionnaires.

Who should take the Guided Placement

These placement tools are intended for students who want to enroll in English, English as a Second Language, and/or math courses. 

It will take several minutes to complete each self placement tool and your responses will assist in guiding you toward the right course to support your educational goals. We strongly recommend that you meet with a counselor for course selection and educational planning. You can schedule a counseling appointment through your WebReg Student portal, by calling the office at (831) 646-4020. Counseling appointments are also available online.

Note: You must use your CCCID or MPC student ID number and a unique placement ID number in order to complete the guided self placement tool. Placement ID numbers were sent to everyone who applied to Monterey Peninsula College on or after November 2017. If you are unable to locate your Placement ID, please contact the Assessment Office and we will resend your placement ID number.
