These traits may make a career as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) the perfect fit for you.  EMT is a terms used to denote a health care provider of emergency medical services.  EMTs are trained to respond quickly to emergency situations regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries and accident scenes. EMTs are most commonly found working on ambulances and in fire departments.

As an EMT, you will be a critical member of the emergency medical response team. A first-responder on the front lines of a variety of emergency situations, expected to provide competent care quickly, while offering life-saving support to patients who are critically injured.  Your training will help prepare you for an entry-level career as an EMT. This course you will provide the information on managing pre-hospital sick or injured patients, caring for patients in the field, safely transporting the patient to the emergency department at a medical facility and more.

The Emergency Medical Technician course (EMMS 170A/B lecture/lab series) is offered twice a year. The course schedule consists of either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6PM to 10PM, and one Saturday or Sunday class from 8AM to 5PM.  In addition there is a requirement of 24 hours of clinical time including time on an ambulance and in a hospital.

Once you graduate from the EMT program, you will be eligible to apply to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and apply for state EMT certification.
