Global Studies
Program Overview:
What does it mean to be a global citizen? As technology, media, trade, migration, and international challenges bring the world’s people into closer connection, the Global Studies program is designed to ensure students better understand the processes and consequences of globalization. This program focuses on how the worldwide challenges we confront in the 21st century can be managed and resolved through the dedicated action of people around the globe working together.
Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Analyze the ongoing phenomenon of globalization employing concepts including but not limited to hegemony, neoliberalism, interdependence, diaspora, Eurocentrism and Orientalism.
- Develop research projects employing the diverse methodologies of the social sciences and humanities.
- Assess the interdependence of global issues, such as inequality, food insecurity, global climate change, terrorism, and community displacement.
