This course provides a history and critical analysis of punishment, the various types of punishment, alternatives to punishment, and the impact of punishment on the criminal justice system, corrections. Students embark upon a critical examination of types of correctional institutions, inmates, and an examination of contemporary correctional issues.

Students critically examine types of correctional institutions, inmates, and contemporary correctional issues, as they gain a behind-the-scenes look into the world of corrections with a seasoned veteran as their guide.
