What is the MLC?

The Math Learning Center is a judgment-free space where we can help you learn and build your confidence with math, at no cost to you! We offer math tutoring for all MPC classes! We help with algebra, statistics, precalculus, calculus, and classes that require basic math skills (like pharmacology and more) too! We can help you with your calculator, Statcrunch, and more. Our goal is to teach you skills and techniques about math learning so you can not only succeed in math, but excel in it! Data shows that students who go into the MLC are more likely to pass their math class by a significant margin. We also have a set of resources that you can look at whenever you like, such as videos on certain types of problems, handouts, and more! At our Monterey location, we have calculators, Chromebooks, and textbooks that you can check out for use in the center. We also have multilingual tutors, in particular multiple tutors in Spanish, as well as other languages!

The MLC is only available to help with MPC courses. We unfortunately cannot offer tutoring for high school classes, classes for other colleges, prep for assessments, SAT's or other exams, etc. The STEM CEL provides general tutoring for other science courses. How do you use the MLC?  

Simply come to the MLC in-person by showing up to our Monterey location (which is in BMC103, click here for a campus map!), or join one of our live Zoom sessions. We will enroll you in a free math tracking class, Math 440, and you can come to the MLC whenever you like. • Tuesday: 9am-6pm
• Wednesday: 9am-6pm

• Friday: 10am-3pm
• Sunday: 1pm-5pm

Online hours:

• Monday: 9am-6pm

Marina hours (MA 201):

• Tuesday: 11am-2pm

In addition our tutoring in-person and our online, live Zoom sessions, we also provide videos and handouts on our Canvas hub. We are always adding more resources as time goes on!
