Providing a structured, multi-faceted curriculum for those who wish to pursue their interest in writing short fiction, novels, poetry, screenplays and/or creative nonfiction, The Creative Writing Certificate Program is a unique 15-credit (5 course) immersion in the study and practice of the writer's art.

Classes make extensive use of the writing workshop environment, in which class members and the instructor create a working community of writers dedicated to their own writing and attentive to the writing of others. The workshop aids each writer in making his or her work as strong as it can be.

Completion of the Certificate Program is noted on student transcripts and may be cited in applying to university Creative Writing, English, Journalism, Humanities, Liberal Arts, and other programs.

Classes may be offered online or on campus. Consult the Schedule of Classes each semester for details.
