Getting Started

1. If you are new to Monterey Peninsula College, you need to first APPLY to the college.  
2. If you are a current student, you need to REGISTER for the class.
3. We use the Canvas Course Management System.  Canvas is updated several times a day, so it often only takes a few hours after registration for you to be able to log in to your class. 

• Click on Lobos Apps at the top of the home page and log in.
• Then click on CANVAS for more information
• Click LOGIN or instructions for getting online. 

One week before the semester begins, I will send you an email letting you know the class is available to you. At that time please log in and look around. Once you are in your class, begin by reading READ THIS BEFORE YOU BEGIN. It provides instructions on getting started. Once you log in to our class, please check your profile. Canvas uses your mpc.edu email address but you can also list a secondary email address that you frequently use from your Canvas profile. Then copies of all emails will be sent to both addresses. We need a reliable email address to communicate with each other.

Read This Before You Begin

Our class officially begins on the first day of the semester at 8 am. At that time the class opens and links are displayed. You will be able to read ACTIVITIES WEEK ONE to see what we are doing our first week.   For now, read through LEARNING ABOUT CANVAS, our course management system and then move on to the EXTRA-CREDIT ORIENTATION DISCUSSION and ORIENTATION QUIZ to get comfortable with those tools.  Also please read through the course SYLLABUS.  You are then ready to take the EXTRA-CREDIT SYLLABUS QUIZ.

If you're comfortable with the class and working online, begin on day one.   Follow the directions in ACTIVITIES WEEK ONE to get started. If you're not comfortable getting started, send me an email rabend@mpc.edu or call me at (831) 646-4112 and we can work together to begin the class.

Canvas uses your mpc.edu email address, so please visit your class profile if you would like to list an email address you frequently use.  We will need it to communicate with each other during the semester.
