English as a Second Language (ENSL)
"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head.
If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart."
— Nelson Mandela
The English as a Second Language Program has six levels of instruction: from beginning courses to university level courses.
The lower levels (1, 2, and 3) are designed to help non-native English speakers communicate by gaining fluency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English.
In the upper levels (4, 5, and 6) listening, speaking, reading, and writing are also taught. However, the focus is on academic English as we prepare students to succeed in university classes. Level 6 transfers to California State Universities.
Our program offers daytime and evening classes to non-native speakers of English; both resident and international students are welcome.
