The MPC Hospitality Department is proud to present the 1st Annual MPC Culinary Challenge for Monterey County High Schools to showcase the future culinary masters of our community. The event also includes workplace tours of area hospitality businesses, interviews with hospitality professionals, and an MPC Hospitality program student.

This year's LIVE virtual event was held Wednesday, April  28 and included workplace tours of  five Monterey County hospitality businesses, interviews with industry professionals, and a student perspective from an MPC Hospitality program student. In addition, MPC's Culinary faculty, Chef Jorge Caughman provided a Crepe making cooking demonstration in support of the competition piece of this event.

Culinary Challenge (Crepes!) Details

Students have through  Friday, May 7, 2021 to make a crepe of their choosing and upload photos and/or videos for judging.  Watch this website for photos of the winning crepes!

  • Students need to use the Student Project Form to upload their entry.   
  • Photos should be taken with landscape (sideways) orientation. 
  • Grand Prize is a KitchenAid Handmixer.
  • Special awards ($5 Starbuck Gift Cards) will be given for:
    • Most Creative Use of Leftovers,
    • Healthy/Sustainable,
    • Best Use of Seasonal Ingredients,
    • Best Plating, and
    • Creative Plating.
