Navigating Your Work Experience Course

Before the Course Starts:

    1. Read over the website and schedule an appointment during office hours located on the main page.
    2. Carefully read the Learning Objectives guidance.
    3. Download your Student Handbook
    4. Present the handbook to your immediate supervisor.
    5. With the assistance of your immediate supervisor, develop 3 learning objectives and record them in your handbook.
    6. Within a week email your objectives to your instructor for approval.
    7. Have your supervisor sign the work agreement in the handbook before you start your experience. This is mandatory.
    8. Once your instructor approves your objectives you will store your handbook in your Google Folder created in your initial meeting.

During the Semester:

  1. Work diligently and efficiently throughout the semester to make maximum progress on your job-related learning objectives.
  2. Check in as needed with your work experience instructor using the office hours scheduler on the main page.
  3. Log and record your hours worked in your handbook or with Additional Hour Tracking Forms with your supervisor's signature and turn them in prior to the end of the semester.
  4. Schedule your worksite visit with your instructor and supervisor.

Three Weeks Before the End of the Semester:

  1. Use the office hour scheduler on the main page to set up your final appointment with your instructor and go over your handbook.
  2. Have your employer fill out your performance evaluation in your handbook and present it to your instructor.
  3. Write your final reflection on your experience and add it to your Google Folder from the initial meeting.
  4. Make sure your completed handbook is turned into your instructor at the end of the semester so your grade can be submitted for the course.
  5. Consider reenrolling in work experience again for the next semester.
