This fall, voters will have the opportunity to elect representatives to serve as members of the Monterey Peninsula Community College District (MPCCD) Governing Board of Trustees for the Trustee Areas listed below.

Trustee Seats up for Election

The MPCCD Governing Board of Trustees consists of five trustees and one student trustee. Trustees are elected by residents of the trustee areas in which they reside. The student trustee is selected annually as part of the Associated Students of Monterey Peninsula College (ASMPC) elections.

This election year MPCCD has three (3) trustee seats up for election, representing the areas listed below:

  • Trustee Area 3 is largely the area of the City of Monterey, Del Rey Oaks, the eastern section of Seaside, and the unincorporated area of the former Fort Ord.
  • Trustee Area 4 is largely the City of Pacific Grove, the Del Monte Forest Area, and the area west of the Presidio in the City of Monterey.
  • Trustee Area 5 is largely the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Carmel Valley area, and the area of the City of Monterey south of Highway 68 and surrounding Jacks Peak Park.

Prospective Trustee Candidates

Individuals interested in serving as as an elected member of MPCCD's Governing Board of Trustees must declare their candidacy by filing for office with the County of Monterey Elections Department between July 15 and August 9, 2024. A Candidate Filing Guide is available online and includes information about qualifications for office.

Orientations for Trustee Candidates

Trustee candidates are invited to attend an orientation conducted by Superintendent/President Dr. Marshall T. Fulbright, III to learn more about MPCCD and the role and responsibilities of the MPCCD Governing Board of Trustees. Dr. Fulbright will give the same presentation at each orientation and will provide time for questions from trustee candidates.

The schedule of orientations is listed below. Orientations will be approximately 60 minutes in duration.
