Update on Collective Bargaining with MPCTA (Oct 11)

On October 11, 2017, the Monterey Peninsula College bargaining team met with the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) for collective bargaining.  In response to the interests expressed by MPCTA at the September 20th session, the District made a proposal to increase faculty salaries, to improve adjunct faculty pay, and to increase pensionable income for counselors who are working extra days.  (Read more ..)

On August 29, 2017, the Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) bargaining team met with the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) for collective bargaining. Update on Collective Bargaining with MPCTA (Jun 28)
On May 5, 2017, the Monterey Peninsula Community College District (“District”) issued a Last, Best, Final Offer (“LBFO”) to the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (“MPCTA”) for a two-year contract to cover the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years.  On June 21, 2017, MPCTA rejected the LBFO by serving a counterproposal for a two-year contract to cover the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years.

In response to the MPCTA counterproposal, the District offers this package proposal to give MPCTA unit members a written contract for a two-year period, to lock in areas of agreement that have been reached by the parties to date, and to allows MPCTA leadership to continue negotiations on issues that have not been resolved through bargaining efforts that commenced in October 2016.  (Read more ..)

On March 31st and April 7th, 2017, the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) and Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) met to negotiate a new MPCTA collective bargaining agreement (CBA). On March 3, 2017, the negotiations teams for the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) and the Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) met for the tenth session of negotiations during the 2016-17 fiscal year. The parties are renegotiating the terms of the MPCTA collective bargaining agreement (CBA) which has expired. On February 21, 2017, the negotiations teams for the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) and the Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) met for the ninth session of negotiations during the 2016-17 fiscal year. Update on Collective Bargaining with MPCTA (Jan 17)
On January 17, 2017, the negotiations teams for the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) and the Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) met from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. regarding a successor contract.  The MPC team presented financial information in response to questions raised by MPCTA at the December 5, 2016 session.  MPC presented a counter-proposal on Article 8 - Leaves.  MPC and MPCTA also discussed the part-time faculty proposal presented by MPCTA. Update on Collective Bargaining with MPCTA (Nov 21)
On November 21, 2016, representatives from MPC and MPCTA attended the third meeting before a mediator in order to resolve the pending grievance.  At the end of the day, the mediator issued a “mediator’s proposal” which was accepted by both MPC and MPCTA as the best possible outcome through mediation, and which both parties agreed to present to their constituents for ratification/adoption. On November 7, 2016, the negotiations teams for the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) and the Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) met from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. regarding a successor contract.
