New Leader Takes the Helm at MPC
Marshall T. Fulbright III, Ed.D., takes the reins as superintendent/president of Monterey Peninsula College today, July 10. Chosen from a national pool of highly qualified candidates, Fulbright, (46), becomes the college’s twelfth superintendent/president in its 75-year history.

Monterey Peninsula Community College District Selects Next College Leader
Following a nationwide search, Monterey Peninsula Community College District (MPCCD) Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Marshall T. Fulbright III to become the next Superintendent/President. The Board intends to approve an employment agreement at the April 26th MPCCD Board meeting.

MPC Holds Half-Time Dedication Ceremony At the Pappas-Phillips Community Stadium
The Lobos Football team will play its first home game of the season on Saturday, September 3 at the recently re-named Pappas-Phillips Community Stadium. A special dedication ceremony will take place during halftime, featuring a “human archway” made up of former athletes.

MPC Commemorates 60th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s Visit to Campus
On March 24th, Monterey Peninsula College will celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of a visit to campus by famed civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King. Classes were cancelled in the morning so that all students could attend his lecture regarding the moral and spiritual factors of integration.

Monterey Peninsula College Foundation Offering $400,000 in Scholarships
Students at Monterey Peninsula College have an opportunity to apply for more than 250 scholarship awards this spring to support their educational pursuits. Students only need to complete one master application online by March 12, 2021 to be considered for more than $400,000 in scholarship funding.

MPC Awarded $1.75 Million Grant to Support Low-income, First Generation Students
Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) was selected to receive a competitive five-year TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant begins September 1, 2020 with an annual award of $351,069, bringing the five-year total to $1,755,345.

Maurine Church Coburn School of Nursing Receives Positive Reviews from Accreditation Site Visit
On September 27, 2019, The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) completed its comprehensive review of MPC's nursing program. The site visitors found the Maurine Coburn School of Nursing to be in compliance with several recommendations noted for strong partnerships.
