Director and producer Alicia Welch first brought this show to the community in 2017 at Monterey High School, where it became a quick hit with standing room only houses almost every night. She could not help but revive this powerful piece at the Pac Rep Outdoor Forest Theatre for the enjoyment and safety of audiences.

About the MPC Production
Inspired by the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the adored 2001 film of the same name, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the metamorphic journey of blonde sorority queen Elle Woods as she fights stereotyping, sexual harassment, and sexism and proves to the world she is a powerful woman with a brilliant legal mind. Modeled after Amanda Brown’s real-life experiences as a Stanford Law student, Elle is a true feminist hero who values sisterhood and stays true to herself and her interests despite social pressures to conform. Even though the 2007 musical has some dated elements, audiences today continue to be inspired and enthralled by Elle Wood’s story. Who cannot love her sense of humor in the face of adversity and her unwavering commitment to pink?!
About the Director/Producer
Alicia Welch has been a Theatre Arts Instructor at Monterey High since 2011 and at MPC since 2016. She studied theatre at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she was trained in acting at the Circle-in-the-Square Theatre and the Actors and Directors Lab. As a graduate student, she studied classical acting at UC Irvine and received her M.F.A. in Theatre. Throughout her lifetime, she has worked as an actor, singer, and director in a variety of productions, both classical and contemporary.
