Dr. Richard Kezirian will survey political history to answer a question that people regularly ask: “How can I better prepare myself for playing an effective leadership role in my community, my profession, my country?” People and societies that do not master the arts of renewal decay, and people and societies that do not provide for the development of leaders invite a downward spiral. As is well known, a good example is often the best sermon. Dr. Kezirian will discuss the lives of men and women in American and European history that he believes are impeccable examples from whom we all can learn—for leaders are made, not born.
Dr. Kezirian is professor emeritus from MPC, retiring from a forty-year career teaching in the History Department and the Gentrain Program. Currently, he is Professor and Senior Program Coordinator at the Panetta Institute for Public Policy while also serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the MPC Foundation. Dr. Kezirian is the recipient of the 1986 Allen Griffin Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2014 MPC President’s Award for his community service and commitment to education for all.
