Once there were three beautiful sisters at Blue Gate Manor.
And then there were two.

During this engaging session on October 26, 2017, Tara will read from the book, answer questions about writing fiction, and sign copies (available for purchase), join us at 6pm in the Karas Room in the Library and Technology Center on the Monterey campus.
“An absorbing and romantic Gothic mystery that will haunt you long after the final page.”
—Kara Thomas, author of The Darkest Corners and Little Monsters
“Evocative and mysterious; The Breathless is rich with layered secrets and intertwined stories of love and loss.”
—Sarah Tomp, author of My Best Everything.
“The Breathless is part magic-tinged mystery, part Southern Gothic, and part romance that chills and thrills you all at once. I couldn't put it down!”
—Tara Hudson, author of the Hereafter trilogy
“This sultry Southern tale is drenched in atmosphere! A world of secrets, mysterious family heirlooms, and forbidden love. Get ready to be bewitched by a story where not only does the past live on . . . the dead do, too!”
—Adriana Mather, New York Times bestselling author of How to Hang a Witch
Tara wrote her first story at age eleven about children who disappeared at midnight, and she’s been writing ever since. Mostly raised in Alabama, she played college tennis in Iowa and then moved to Alaska and Australia before heading back to the continental US.
While completing grad school, Tara worked as a tennis coach, a yoga instructor, a university writing teacher, and as an editor for a publishing house. These days, when she’s not making up stories, she's probably going for a hike, staring at a to-do list, reading a novel, or eating all of California’s seasonal fruit.

About the Series
As participants in The MPC Guest Authors Series, accomplished writers of poetry and prose come to our main campus in Monterey for public readings and discussions of writing and literature with MPC students.
Supported by The MPC Creative Writing Program, English Department, and Humanities Division, as well as The MPC Foundation and The Arts Council for Monterey County, the Series typically presents two Guest Authors each academic year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring semester.
Further enhancing the vibrant and inspiring Creative Writing environment at MPC, the Series offers extraordinary opportunity for those who pursue their own writing interest by way of our multi-genre Creative Writing curriculum to meet with and learn from diverse literary artists of consummate skill.
