Banned Books Week and Raffle!

From Monday, September 26 through Thursday, the September 29th, the BANNED BOOKS RAFFLE returns to the Caroline Page Garden outside the LTC from 10 am - 2 pm.Copies of books that have been banned or challenged are rallfed at a cost of $.50 per ticket, or 3 for $1.00. (Proceeds are used to buy books for the next year's raffle!)

Recently, the "Top 10" have included Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, The Harry Potter Series, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Hunger Games series and other familiar titles.

Books that have been among the most targeted for decades include classics like Fahrenheit 4511984To Kill a MockingbirdSlaughterhouse Five, The Color Purple, Beloved, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, among others.

Banned Books Week was established by the American Library Association in defense of the right to read. For more information, visit ala.org
