The Phlebotomy Technician Training program is an accelerated training course designed to combine classroom instruction with hands-on training in a medical laboratory to help you develop the highly technical skill of blood withdrawal. 

What is included in the program:

  • 84 hours of instruction
  • 5 hours of CPR training
  • Externship opportunity
Upon successful completion of the classroom training, students will take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam and be required to pass a drug and background screen prior to being placed in the externship portion of the program.Externship information:
  • Students in this program must complete a 40-80 hour site externship.
  • Externships are scheduled for one week, Monday-Friday (no nights or weekends).
  • Students will need to be available from 5 a.m. - 6 p.m. for that week only (specific schedule timeframe is determined by each externship site).

Once a student has successfully completed all program requirements, they are eligible to apply for the State of California CPT-1 License.

Requirements for Registration:
  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Students must have a high school diploma or a GED (to be provided at second class meeting);
  • Must attend an informational session prior to registration (see list of available sessions below);
  • Must place a $600 dollar deposit at the time of registration;
  • Must be enrolled in an installment payment plan if unable to pay in full (full payment is required by the final class meeting)

Refund & Credit Policy:

All refund or transfer of credit requests made 14 days before the class start date will be granted minus a $30 processing fee. 

Students who withdraw after the first class meeting are no longer eligible for a refund, however students may request to receive a credit that may be applied to a future class offering.

Refunds and credits are not granted if a student has failed or was dropped from the program for failure to meet program requirements. 

In the event the Office of Continuing and Professional Education cancels a class prior to the start date due to low enrollment a full refund will be issued.
