ACEs Awareness: Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences
Join this three series workshop that supports many, whether you are a parent, caregiver, teacher, or administrator, in understanding what ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) mean and how they may negatively impact brain development, affecting learning and behavior management.
You will learn how to incorporate brain-based approaches to create optimal safe and trustworthy environments for children by providing tools for self-regulation. You will have the opportunity to experience trauma-informed approaches to minimize toxic stress and increase well-being and resilience.

Workshop Series:
Each series includes three sessions, a mix of online and in person. We will meet in person on the first class day in September and the last class day in November. All other sessions will be held via Zoom.
1. Impact of ACEs
Learn how early childhood adversities affect different parts of the brain, affecting learning and behavior management.

2. Brain-based Informed Care
Learn how to rewire healthily and reduce violence and aggressive behaviors often seen in classrooms, schools, and at home.

3. Trauma-Informed Practices
Learn to practice the “slow down” nervous system and use tools to self-regulate, increase well-being, and resilience.

Instructor Bio: Dr. Annette Oswald founded From The Root: Transformative Education. The program she has developed is a brain-based, trauma-informed program focused on integrating social-emotional, family culture, and mindfulness practices to enrich the development of young children. The program’s methodology is adult-first (the root of our children’s development), working with adults caring for young children to understand the value of healthy living and the importance of connecting the mind, body, and brain.
