Your Step-by-Step Checklist

Start by completing all the steps for New Student Registration.

You do not need a social security number to register. MPC’s online application requests a social security number and citizenship status information.  Here’s how to fill out the form:

  • If you have a social security number through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), use it for this section.
  • If you don’t have a valid social security number but have a valid taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), you may use that for this section.
  • If you don't have a current valid immigration status, select "Other" and "No documents" on the Citizenship/Military section of the application.

Read your MPC welcome email from the Admissions & Records Office to see if you’ve been classified as a nonresident.

If you have been classified as a nonresident student you will be charged nonresident tuition. Please visit Registration Fees for more information.

You may still be to waive the nonresident tuition if you meet certain requirements:

  • Residency Reclassification: If you hold a national/immigration status (including DACA) that is allowed to establish residency and have been residing in California for one year and a day prior to the start of the term, you may submit a Request to Be Classified as a California Resident Form along with required documentation to the Admissions and Record Office.
  • AB 540: If you don’t meet the above criteria, you may still be eligible to waive your nonresident fees. Submit the AB 540 Tuition Exemption Request Form along with official sealed transcripts from all schools attended to the Admissions and Records Office.

Apply for financial aid by submitting the California Dream Act Application if you meet the criteria for AB540.

Visit Undocumented Resource Center Financial Assistance for more information about financial aid, AB540 eligibility criteria, and to get information about scholarships you may be eligible to apply.

We recommend that you schedule an appointment with a counselor to develop an educational plan and determine the appropriate course(s) selection for your program of study. Email us at undocu@mpc.edu for help scheduling an appointment.
