We are committed to fostering holistic support through various services and resources that address students’ basic needs—an ecosystem that includes food security, housing security, and financial stability—in addition to health care, technology, and transportation.

ON-CAMPUS:

  • Priority Registration

Priority registration for continuing students will be based on the number of units completed at Monterey Peninsula College and the in-progress units for the current semester. Units completed at other institutions will not be considered. Priority registration for Student Parents will be provided by MPC by July 1, 2023.

CARE is a program that provides participants a chance to overcome some obstacles including problems with childcare, transportation, or family difficulties. They work with single parents to expand their educational and job training opportunities. Click the link in the title for additional details on eligibility and services.

CalWORKS supports students on public assistance to get access to vital services such as work study, job placement, childcare, curriculum development, skills training and more. Click the link in the title for additional details on eligibility and services.

Preschool performs a dual purpose for the campus community; high quality child care for students, staff, faculty & community families. They offer financial assistance to qualifying families through the State of California’s Subsidized Program. Click the link in the title for additional details on eligibility and services.

 

COUNTY & COMMUNITY:

CalFresh is a California financial aid program that helps students buy food and eat healthier. It won't affect your financial aid and you don't need your parents' tax return information to apply if you are over the age of 22. Click the link in the title to apply for CalFresh online or visit our Basic Needs Center located in the Student Center for additional support.

This is a supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children. Services include nutrition information, food benefits for healthy foods, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other community resources. For support in finding care, please submit the Child Care Request Form on the website. You will receive a response within a few days from MAOF. If you would prefer to speak to someone in person, please call the Resource and Referral at (831) 757-0775. Subsidies are available for families who qualify.   • MPC Lobo Market

Currently enrolled students qualify for free food. Please visit the Basic Needs Center/ASMPC office located at the Student Center for more information.

Hours: Mon-Thu 9:00 am - 5:00 pm | Fri 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Visit this site with a list of local food distributions. No information/documentation required to be eligible for food. You are able to visit any location as many times as you wish.

Good Samaritan Center offers housing, meals, showers, and laundry services.

Provides safe housing, compassionate support, and opportunities for self-sufficiency through outreach, emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing and supportive services throughout Monterey County. I encourage you to subscribe to their newsletter. They send weekly housing and employment opportunities within the area.

Programs provide temporary housing for families transitioning from homelessness to independent living in the Monterey Bay area. They also provide shower facilities, warm meals, and additional vouchers.

Provides affordable housing, residential treatment, social support, homeless outreach and support, and supported education and employment services for adults who have serious mental illnesses.

Starfish guests will have 30-day access to safe overnight parking. Call (831) 275-5167 to connect with an intakes case worker for further support.

MPC works in collaboration with CHOMP to provide an on-site Registered Nurse. MPC Student Health Services staff also includes a Health Specialist, Mental Health Clinicians, and CSUMB Social Work interns all ready to assist with any physical or mental health needs.
