Have Questions About Orientation?
3 Ways to Access Orientation
In Person
Our face-to-face orientation provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with
campus while receiving an overview of essential information.
Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Familiarize yourself with the tools you need to succeed at MPC via the online orientation
session, which you can access any time at your convenience. You’ll need to create
a new Student Account when signing in for the first time.
La orientación en español está disponible en línea. Puede seleccionar esa opción después
de crear una cuenta.
To receive credit for online attendance, please email your completion certificate
and MPC student ID number to MPC’s Outreach Coordinator at outreach@mpc.edu
If you’d like more guidance to establish your personal and academic goals, you can
take the Counseling 10 (COUN 10) course in person or online as an alternative to – or in addition to – orientation.
In this short-term, one-unit class, you’ll learn how to assess your knowledge, skills,
and abilities in relation to educational, career, and/or personal goals.
Do I Have to Attend Orientation?
You may be exempt from orientation if you:
- Have already earned an associate or higher degree
- Are taking courses for personal interest
- Are a K-12 grade student who is non-matriculating – that is, you are not completing a degree or certificate program
- Are taking courses to maintain a certificate or license
- Are taking courses for advancement in current job/career (updating job skills)
- Are concurrently enrolled in another college or university and are receiving matriculation services at that institution
If you meet one or more of these exemption criteria, and would like to be exempt from the Orientation requirement, please submit an Orientation Exemption Form to outreach@mpc.edu.
If you don’t have the means or time to complete the Orientation requirement before starting classes, you can waive it for up to eight (8) weeks.
To request an extension, please submit an Orientation Waiver Form to outreach@mpc.edu.
