Supervisor Hiring Process

Students hired through the Student Employment Office must complete an approval process with their department supervisor. This step ensures proper authorization before beginning work and supports a smooth hiring experience.

Hiring a Student?

Before a student can begin working, supervisors must complete a few important steps. First, make sure the student has correctly applied for the position following the steps on the Student Employment Page. Students are not permitted to start work without prior approval from the Student Employment Office. Please follow the process below to ensure smooth onboarding.

Step 1

Fill out the Job Description Template and submit it to studentemployment@mpc.edu. You will need to save it first to either Google Drive or your own computer before being able to edit.

If you have already submitted a Job Description Template in the past for the same position, just review the current Job Position Listing to ensure that your name is listed as the supervisor and the Job Description is still accurate. If the information on the Job Position is correct, resending the template is not necessary. If there are any adjustments that need to be made, please submit a revised Template to studentemployment@mpc.edu.

Step 2

Identify or schedule an interview with the student and complete the Supervisor Hiring Approval Form.

Step 3

Remind the student to make an appointment with the Student Employment Job Coordinator for onboarding.

Wait for an email from the Student Employment Job Coordinator with the student’s start and end dates.
