The Associated Students of Monterey Peninsula College coordinates student activities and fosters collaboration among students, faculty, and the community. ASMPC champions equal rights for the entire campus and provides a forum for students to express their thoughts and opinions.

Recognized by the Governing Board as the official representative organization for MPC Students, the ASMPC elects members of the Executive, Council and Judicial branches for a one year period; all other positions are appointed by the Student Government annually each Spring.

ASMPC has Six Sub-Councils

  • Activities Council - The AC coordinates student events and activities for the MPC campus community.
  • Inter-Club Council - The ICC provides funding for events and networking opportunities for student organizations (clubs).
  • Public Relations Council - The PRC promotes the ASMPC council and club events to the campus community through social media, flyers, etc.
  • STEM Council - The STEM council advocates and supports students majoring in STEM classes.
  • Student Representation Council - The SRC ensures that the student’s voice is heard and that student’s rights are protected.
  • Student Welfare Council - The SWC coordinates events and activities that address mental health, wellness and social issues.

Meetings hosted by ASMPC are held regularly during the Spring and Fall Semesters — all students are encouraged to attend! Joining ASMPC offers an excellent opportunity to engage with your campus community. It enhances your college applications and resumes and is a great way to strengthen your leadership skills, build new friendships, and actively participate in decisions that impact every student!

I have the honor of being your ASMPC President this year. I am a dance major, and I strive to help bring unity to our campus. The best way we can run as a campus is if we work together, so I am here to help create that connection with all of us. I'm very open-minded and love meeting new people, so if you ever need anything, please feel free to come say hi. I am here for every single one of you and your ideas, no matter how big or small. Hi, my name is Carla Lara. My position at ASMPC is Associate Justice. I am currently in my second year of kinesiology. Once I get my bachelors in kinesiology I hope to get into an occupational therapy program hopefully working with kids. I am an avid reader and a big foodie.

I am majoring in Studio Arts, and with my knowledge, I can create more opportunities for students to express themselves across the campus. I am here for everyone, regardless of their background, and I enjoy supporting anyone whom I can.

Senator of Physical Sciences Mary Hooper

Hi everyone! I’m Mary, your resident Chemistry major, Track and Field athlete, and Senator of Physical Sciences. I’m excited to be a part of ASMPC and represent the incredible batch of STEM students we have here. It’s my second semester as a full time MPC student and my fourth year here including duel enrollment. I run distance (go Lobos!) and cross-country in the fall. Apart from ASMPC, I also work at the Monterey Sports Center as a lifeguard and swim instructor. In between the physics homework and 800 repeats I like to weight lift, sing, draw, and sail with our local Sea scout ship. If you spot me in the STEM Cel or on the track, come say hi!

William Cardoza

As a Classics major studying Latin and Ancient Greek, an idea sparked in my mind to propose the establishment of a study abroad program at MPC - Lobos Abroad. Experiences such as these would help students become more employable developing soft skills that will be ever more important in our AI-driven world. This can help them not only in preparation for future careers but also to better serve our community.
