How to Qualify
Students who are eligible for the MPC Promise program will be notified via email starting in early September for Fall and mid February for Spring.
To qualify, you need to:
- Apply for aid via either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA)
- Be a graduate of a California high school or adult school
- Be a first-time college student or second-year college student who met program requirements in the current academic school year
- Enroll full-time (12+ units)
- Maintain full-time enrollment
- Select an educational goal to earn a certificate, associate's degree, or transfer to a four-year university
- Complete an MPC Orientation session and develop an Educational Plan
MPC Promise Program FAQs
Any California high school or adult school graduate who registers at MPC for the first
time college since high school as a full-time (12 units or more per semester) student.
Students must also apply for financial aid through either the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application to qualify.
The MPC Promise covers the first and second-year enrollment fee for 12 or more units ($46 per unit), for Fall and Spring.
Yes, as long as you did not attend any college after you graduated from a California high school or adult school.
The MPC Promise will be posted to your My Financial Aid Portal and you will receive an award notification. You will be responsible for paying other term fees such as the student health fee, student center fee, parking fees, etc.
The MPC Promise is only available to students who meet California residency requirements or have been determined AB 540 status by the Office of Admissions and Records.
Citizen, eligible non-citizens, and undocumented students are eligible for the MPC Promise. Students on F1 Visas are not eligible for the MPC Promise.
You will be eligible for a reimbursement. Reimbursements take approximately six weeks to process. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
You are expected to remain enrolled in at least 12 units while receiving the MPC Promise. If you drop below 12 units in the Fall semester, you will no longer be eligible for the MPC Promise for the upcoming Spring semester and forward.
