Recognized by the Governing Board as the official representative organization for MPC Students, the ASMPC elects members of the Executive, Council and Judicial branches for a one year period; all other positions are appointed by the Student Government annually each Spring.

ASMPC has Six Sub-Councils

  • Activities Council - The AC coordinates student events and activities for the MPC campus community.
  • Inter-Club Council - The ICC provides funding for events and networking opportunities for student organizations (clubs).
  • Student Welfare Council - The SWC coordinates events and activities that address mental health, wellness and social issues.
  • Public Relations Council - The PRC promotes the ASMPC council and club events to the campus community through social media, flyers, etc.
  • Student Representation Council - The SRC ensures that the student’s voice is heard and that student’s rights are protected.
  • STEM Council - The STEM council advocates and supports students majoring in STEM classes.

Meetings hosted by ASMPC are held regularly during the Spring and Fall Semesters — all students are encouraged to attend!Joining ASMPC offers an excellent opportunity to engage with your campus community. It enhances your college applications and resumes and is a great way to strengthen your leadership skills, build new friendships, and actively participate in decisions that impact every student!

Hi everyone! I’m Miriam Avila-Hernandez, and I’m thrilled to serve as your Vice President of ASMPC and NSLS. I’m majoring in Molecular Biology and plan to transfer next year to continue my studies in Dermatology. I have been on council for a year and have loved every minute of it. This role has been enriching, allowing me to grow personally and professionally while supporting fellow students. It makes me joyful to see students having fun and genuinely happy at our beautiful campus. I’m excited to continue my journey here at MPC and see where life leads me after graduation. This is my first year attending college after graduating high school in July 2024, and I'm so incredibly grateful to have found my home at MPC for the next two years. I am currently majoring in Kinesiology, Nutrition/Dietetics, and Psychology—but who knows if that will change! Hi. My name is Donald Brown, and I am the Chief Justice for the ASMPC Student Government this semester. Being a participant of the student government has taught me a lot about myself such as how to use my goals and strengths and not only that while earning my degrees to get practical experience the student government has allowed me to. As a student, participating in the student government has created a charge that is positive for me by helping contribute to improving the school and the community. I have also been involved with promoting citizenship, scholarships, leadership, human relations, and cultural values. This is my four++year here at MPC and my major is Social Science, and Communications. As the Chief Justice I serve as the Parliamentarian for the ASMPC Council and the Head of the Judicial Branch. Hi everyone! I’m Amy, the Director of Student Welfare here at MPC. As a passionate mental health advocate, I’m dedicated to supporting our campus community through wellness events, financial literacy workshops, and community-building initiatives aimed at creating a healthier and more connected environment for all. I’m in my final year at MPC, studying Business Admin, and I also serve as the Vice President of the Business and Entrepreneurship Club. Alyx Doss

Alyxzandria (Alyx) Doss

My name is Alyxzandria (Alyx) Doss, I am the Director of Activities for ASMPC. I am also president of PRIDE Pack. My goal this year as a queer disabled person is to support the students in any way that I can, especially considering that these two groups are very under-represented in political and leadership environments. I want to improve accessibility around campus both physically and mentally. I want to reduce and hopefully erase the negative stigma that has been unfortunately placed onto queer people, and have information readily available for anyone willing to learn. I want to be able to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for all at MPC.

Yoshimi Ishii MPC is a big community of diverse smaller groups rooted in various interests and backgrounds. ASMPC works to bring people together to create a more cohesive whole. The main purpose of the SRC is to connect the school and the students and to foster an environment where the students can level up in their academic and professional pursuits. We are also tasked by the state to host civic inspiration events. I’m honored to be one of the change-makers here.

 Josue Ortiz Hi! My name is Josue Ortiz and I’m a returning MPC student. I came back in Fall ‘20 during the pandemic. This choice alone has given me so many opportunities that I would have never thought possible. It gave me an opportunity to intern at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, join the MPC/CSUMB iCARE REU program, and be a part of UCSC’s ACCESS Summer Research Program for two years in a row. Along the way, I met amazing people who helped me grow, and through all the ups and downs, I've found beauty in this journey.

Hey Lobos! I’m Miriam Ahamed and your senator of humanities. I'm studying communications and English. Originally I was going to major in one and minor in the other but then I decided to Hannah Montana this and get the best of both worlds.

As your senator of humanities, I intend to build an active community for those studying within this department! I love to advocate to all students about the remarkable services here on campus. I’m an Umoja ambassador, one of the exceptional programs here! I’m a creative passionate person and when you see me around campus, don’t be a stranger.

As a Classics major passionate about arts and culture, I bring creativity and tradition to student government. My journey started with music and grew when I founded A.D.M. Project, an underground gallery where I discovered a love for photography. “A.D.M.” stands for Atelier Deluxe Musique, honoring my musical roots. Beyond campus, I’m an avid surfer and proud parent of ten cats! I’m excited to bring my unique perspective, blending history with creative insights for a vibrant student experience.

I graduated from MPC with an Associate Degree in Business, I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento, and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Palo Alto University. My focus areas are on developing student leadership and creating effective and efficient student organizations. I enjoy working with students and helping them to achieve their professional and personal goals.
