Program Overview

How does gender affect the lives of all people and the social, political, and economic organization of society? This program prepares students to transfer into the California State University system while taking courses that investigate gendered systems through a social justice framework and intersectional methods attentive to race, ethnicity, and sexuality. Coursework is flexibly applicable to a range of transfer programs at CSU campuses, including sociology and human services.

Job Outlook

Equipped for research, analysis, and communication jobs, Gender and Women’s Studies graduates possess skills in high demand in business, legal services, human resources, community services, non-profit, philanthropy, and victim advocacy careers. A high number of graduates work as project managers, researchers, and professional fundraisers. In business, U.S. companies are prioritizing corporate social responsibility like never before — seeking employees with expertise in equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Testimonials

Moises Renoso Colin

Gender and Women’s Studies has taught me so much and made me very passionate about gender, race, and intersectionality. I originally was going to MPC for Human Services but [then I learned] …  how this GWOS degree would actually help me in the future for my Human Services career. Getting this degree has helped me branch out and pursue community job opportunities that will help low-income families. Loved these courses!
