Program Overview

In the 21st century, understanding how ethnicity, injustice and inequity affect the human experience is more urgent than ever. Students critically examine the socioeconomic concerns, cultural contributions, historical experiences, and major social movements of diverse societal groups. This transfer degree program aligns with degrees offered at many four-year institutions, providing an interdisciplinary education and preparing students for seamless transfer into related majors.

Job Outlook

With growing awareness of inequity and the rise of social justice movements, sectors from education to technology are establishing diversity, equity, and inclusionary practices. Combining critical thinking and communications skills with deep understanding of social issues, Social Justice Studies graduates become proactive citizens that address social issues in their communities. A degree in Social Justice Studies can be used in social work, conflict resolution, community organizing, education, public policy, or human rights development.

Simply graduating MPC meant automatic acceptance at CSUMB where I blossomed into a community organizer and eventually went on to get my MSW and work as a counselor and diversity trainer.
