Program Overview

What should we have for dinner? Most of us are lucky enough to choose what we eat, but what should we choose? By providing education in nutrition science and the relationship of the human diet to health, and lifestyle related diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, the Nutrition and Dietetics program will help students answer these and other questions. Graduates will gain the skills and knowledge necessary for further study and career in fields related to wellness and nutrition.

Job Outlook

Understanding and acting on the links between diet, health, and quality of life is only likely to grow in importance. Demand for dietitians and nutritionists is projected to grow at 8 percent — twice as fast the national job growth average — while health educator jobs are slated to grow even more, by 13 percent.  Graduates can also explore careers in food science, food safety, and public health.

The curriculum and instructors in the nutrition program at MPC have done an amazing job of preparing me with the tools and knowledge I needed to find success after transferring. Getting to know the instructors and spending the time it takes to understand the course materials have been invaluable.
