Program Overview
If your calling is the art and science of healing, but you aren’t sure of your career path, the Health Services Professions program offers some foundational coursework that may help you hone in on your specific interests in health care. Students can go on to access a variety of health careers with further specialized training in medical or dental assisting, kinesiology, and nursing, among other fields.
Job Outlook
Longer lifespans and an aging population have made healthcare a significant growth sector. More people nationwide work in healthcare and social assistance than in any other private sector of the economy; in Monterey County, healthcare ranks as the third largest sector. Through 2028, openings for medical assistants are expected to grow 25%, medical laboratory technicians by 19%, and registered nurses by 17%. MPC’s certificate program helps students take the first steps toward a number of allied health careers.

Testimonial

I am so grateful for the opportunity to begin my non-traditional entry into college at MPC. The faculty has given me the confidence, materials, and time necessary for me to be encouraged about my future career as a nurse. From my first counseling appointment, to one-on-ones with my teachers I have felt empowered to achieve my educational goals.
