Program Overview
Emergency Medical Technicians work on the front lines of health care, providing time-critical support to patients before they reach a hospital. Emergency Medical Technician coursework includes assessment and emergency treatment procedures for medical, trauma, and environmental patients in the clinical setting. The curriculum meets state and national requirements for EMT certification, and graduates are prepared for required accreditation and pursuit of careers as emergency medical personnel.
Job Outlook
Graduates are prepared for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician test required for professional accreditation, as well as the state psychomotor skills exam for EMTs. With this certification, and upon registering with the state, the candidate may apply to fire academies, public and private sector ambulance companies, or hospital emergency departments. Many students also take the EMT class to further their education and emergency medicine experience in the fields of paramedics, physician’s assistants, nurses, or physicians.

The EMT Program is a very unique course that the college offers, unique in its very ways, different walks of life in the instructors cadre is what keeps this program successful year round. I’ve learned everything I know by taking this course which has made me a better member of the Fire Department. Aletha is, without a doubt, the back bone to it all. Day in day out always keeping us students in line. Setting up the skills and making this fun for us, even when under pressure. 2021 was an interesting year to take a college course and I am very thankful I passed the class via Zoom, short in-person interaction with all the obstacles we’ve faced. Thank you Aletha and the rest of the staff.
