Personal Development courses support student learning by helping students demonstrate the ability to evaluate and synthesize academic and career-related information and progress toward achieving student-selected goals.

PERS 10 ORIENTATION TO COLLEGE - 1 unit • LG-P/NP • One hour lecture
This short-term course provides students with information necessary for transition into Monterey Peninsula College. Topics may include assessment result analysis; clear understanding of the AA/AS degrees, certificates, and transferring to CSU and UC; schedule-building; stu­dent services; school policies; and college culture. Assessment results necessary to complete required Education Plan. Also offered online.

PERS 50 MAKING COLLEGE COUNT - 3 units • LG-P/NP • Three hours lecture
This course provides skills and techniques to assist in evaluating personal learning styles, priorities in use of time, successful study strat­egies, stress management, identification of values and goals, assertive­ness, and successful use of campus resources and services.

PERS 71 FOUNDATIONS OF CAREER CHOICE - 1 unit • LG-P/NP • One hour lecture
This course is designed for students interested in learning more about themselves and the world of work before making a career choice. It includes self-assessments, career exploration, career trends and workplace issues, decision-making, and college and career planning. Also offered online.
