About the Math Learning Center (MLC)
We offer free drop-in tutoring in mathematics to all MPC students taking a math (below 20A), science (no Physics 3) or CTE course involving mathematics. The MLC is staffed by math instructors, instructional specialists, and student tutors. Don't have a text book? No problem. We have text books and calculators that you can check out while in the MLC. You must have a valid photo ID in order to check these resources out. We also have computers you can use.
The MLC will not be providing tutoring support for students at or above the Math 20A level. All students are welcome to use the study rooms in the MLC. Textbooks for these courses can be checked out for use in the MLC.
Who can use the MLC?
Anyone enrolled in a mathematics class or CTE class involving mathematics here at MPC. The MLC is only available to help with your MPC courses. We do not offer tutoring for high school classes, classes for other colleges, prep for assessments, SAT's or other exams, etc...
How do you use the MLC?
Come in to the MLC and we will give you the forms necessary to register. You will fill out a referral form and register for MATH 440. This is for record keeping only and does not count for credit. You will then be added to the MLC system and receive a log in number. After that you are free to drop in during our hours of operation whenever you want for as long or as little as you want. You can sit and work on your homework and let one of the tutors know when you have a question or need assistance. Feel free to bring some friends from class and work together. Please remember to log in when you arrive and log out when you leave.
