Update on Collective Bargaining with MPCTA (Jan 17)
On January 17, 2017, the negotiations teams for the Monterey Peninsula College Teachers Association (MPCTA) and the Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) met from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. regarding a successor contract.
The parties agreed on the agenda for the bargaining session. The MPC team presented financial information in response to questions raised by MPCTA at the December 5, 2016 session. MPC presented a counter-proposal on Article 8 - Leaves, which incorporates new statutory rights for employees with regard to paid parental leave (baby bonding) and provides a right to carry over Teaching Load Units (TLUs) for anticipated family and medical leave and pregnancy disability leave. MPC and MPCTA also discussed the part-time faculty proposal presented by MPCTA.
MPC and MPCTA have additional negotiation sessions scheduled on February 10th, February 21st, March 3rd, and March 31st.
