David Kersnar Joins MPC Theatre Department
Outgoing Department Chair Gary Bolen happily announced the appointment of the new Interim position.
“David was selected from a truly impressive pool of over 75 applicants,” stated Bolen, who himself now goes on to Emeritus status. “And David comes with a series of outstanding credentials,” he continued.
A member of SAG/AFTRA and AEA, David Kersnar is a graduate of the prestigious Theatre Arts department of Northwestern University, which Bolen points out is “One of the top 5 theatre training programs in the US.”
David Kersnar is a founder of Chicago's Tony Award winning Lookingglass Theatre, where he served as Artistic Director from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1997 to 2000. David also worked at Chicago’s famous Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and “Will bring a wealth of teaching and "real world" experience to the students at MPC and our local theatre community,” says Gary Bolen.
This includes well over twenty-five years of teaching residencies, camps and classes, including courses for Roosevelt University, DePaul University, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and residencies for children with special needs in Chicago area schools.
“I look forward to working with David as he transitions in to this position, and eagerly anticipate his first production on the Morgan Stock Stage at MPC – Shakespeare’s As You Like It - in November,” says Bolen.
